Tunisia – The annual Jewish pilgrimage to the Ghriba synagogue on the island of Djerba will take place from May 4 to May 9, according to Perez Trabelsi, the head of the pilgrimage’s organizing committee.
The number of attendees at this annual pilgrimage will increase by 40 percent compared to the previous year. In fact, over 7,000 pilgrims, including diplomatic officials, have already booked or inquired about the visit dates, Trabelsi noted.
He recalled that the Jewish pilgrimage to the Ghriba also has a tourism part and helps attract visitors and stimulate economic growth on the island.
Accordingly, Houmt Souk and the neighboring regions of the island have made preparations to welcome visitors, Trabelsi told TAP.
