Tunisia Is Sending Two Planes with Rescuers to Türkiye and Syria
1.9K

Tunisia’s President Kais Saied has sent a message to Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to offer his condolences for the victims of the deadly earthquake. President Saied has ordered to send humanitarian aid for the victims of the earthquake in both Syria and Türkiye.

Two “C-130J Super Hercules” aircrafts will take off tomorrow to transport emergency search & rescue and medical teams to Türkiye and Syria. Some 14 tonnes of blankets and food will be sent, the Ministry of Defense reports. The planes will take off from the “El Aouina” military base.

A series of strong earthquakes struck central and Southern Türkiye, and Northern Syria overnight. According to data from the European Mediterranean Seismological Center, the magnitude of the strongest earthquake at 2:17 a.m. Tunisian time was 7.8 on the Richter scale, while Turkish seismologists reported 7.4. The earthquake was felt in the capital Ankara, as well as in many other cities of the country.
