Tunisian President Kais Saied has sacked Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani without explanation and replaced him with the Minister of Social Affairs, Kamel Maddouri, the Tunisian presidency said.

Hachani was “terminated” shortly before midnight on Wednesday by the president who immediately appointed Kamel Maddouri, a little-known former director at Tunisia’s National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM).

No official explanation was given for Hachani’s dismissal.
