Transport in Tunisia

Tunisia enjoys a relatively good transportation system. For traveling from one region to another, you can choose between different transportation options such as buses, taxis, minibus share taxis, trains, rental cars, and even planes. Cities and largest towns generally have a bus system, but taxis and minibus share taxis make it even easier to get around, even if you are not familiar with the city you are in.

Getting There

Tunisia has international flight connections with a several destinations around the world. Tunis-Carthage Airport is the biggest international airport located in Tunis and used by long-haul and full-service carriers intensively.

Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport along with Djerba-Zarzis International Airport might be your other options for long-haul flight but the variety of flights is lesser.

All international airports in Tunisia are well connected with many destinations in Africa and Europe. If arriving from Europe, you have a good choice of low-cost flights. For more information, see our flights to Tunisia page.

Getting Around the Cities

Most of cities and larger towns in Tunisia have some kind of local transport system. In largest cities, it can be a network of buses but in most cases it will be just a network of minibus share taxis, with set fares and routes but not rigid timetabling.

Local transport system usually is complemented by various taxi services such as metered taxis that make it even easier to get around.
