Ons Jabeur creates history by becoming the highest ranked African and Arab Tennis player ever. She rises to No. 2 on the WTA rankings today, which isn’t just a new career-high for the Tunisian, it also makes her the highest-ranked player representing an African country in either ATP or WTA rankings history.

Ons Jabeur is having quite a grass season this year. She won the Berlin Open and moved up the WTA rankings to become the third-ranked player in the world. Following her victory in Berlin, she teamed up with tennis legend Serena Williams to compete in the Eastbourne International.

After Jabeur received a slight injury in the semifinals, the duo withdrew from the event. Her participation in Wimbledon has not been hindered by her injury, and she will attend the competition. Ons Jabeur’s good grass season became great when she climbed further up the rankings.

HISTORY MADE❗

🇹🇳 @Ons_Jabeur rises to No. 2 on the WTA rankings today, which isn't just a new career-high for the Tunisian, it also makes her the highest-ranked player representing an African country in either ATP or WTA rankings history. 💪

The most recent WTA rankings place the Tunisian at number two in the world. She surpassed Anett Kontaveit of Estonia to earn the position. She is now only behind Iga Swiatek of Poland in the standings. Her career-high position represents a new benchmark for her.

She is currently the highest-ranked player representing an African nation in the history of both women’s and men’s tennis. This will give her a tremendous confidence boost heading into Wimbledon.
