German Military Cemetery in Tunisia
5.2K

Most people don’t even realize that the Germans had actually a military cemetery in Tunisia! It’s certainly very well hidden: Google Maps directions to get you there are totally useless, and there are no signposts. It’s completely obscured by tree cover on every side. Really interesting site though.

German Military Cemetery in Tunisia.

The painful progress of the Allies’ WWII North African campaign is marked by a series of military cemeteries. One of them is the German military cemetery in Tunisia. It is located in Borj Cedria, on the Gulf of Tunis about 25KM southeast of the capital.

LOCATION INFORMATION

  • Casualties from Second World War.

The German WWII War Cemetery is located in Borj Cedria, its coordinates are as follow: 36.695356,10.397165. The cemetery is actually correctly marked on Google Maps. However, the problems start when you ask Google Maps to navigate you there, and it asks you to turn off the motorway through the crash barriers and into a field! As a workaround, you will actually have to use satellite photography to find a driveable route in, or better, check with a local.
