TUNIS, April 6 – When asked about a possible agreement with the International Monetary Fund, the Tunisian president, Kais Saied, said on Thursday that international lenders’ diktates are unacceptable and that previous subsidy cuts led to deadly protests.
He said, “Public peace is not a game.”
Saied stated that “Tunisians must count on themselves” as an alternative to a deal with the IMF, which was the clearest indication of his rejection to a possible deal with the IMF.
