► Who is Ons?

A: Fashion and beauty content creator on Instagram and Youtube, a podcaster and a woman with too many ambitions.

Ons HM. Carthage Magazine.

► What made you start a Podcast?

A: Short answer: my obsession with podcasts!

Well, podcasts are informative, educational and entertaining. They address topics in both fun and deep way that, nowadays, we can not get from tv shows and radio programs.

Podcasts are practical. You can listen to a podcast literally anytime everywhere: on the road to work or Uni., while cleaning up, doing laundry, walking around, working out, or even when you want some time off to relax.

Podcasts encourage a multitasking lifestyle and increase productivity, especially when the majority of millennials (my target audience) are getting very busy with their daily tasks and sometimes can not find the time to sit down and watch a 30min episode of their favorite show.

► Why a Podcast — The story behind Onsomnia?

A: When I was young, I have always been obsessed with radio shows, I used to listen to the radio literally everyday, I didn’t want to skip my favorite shows and I used to record my favorite songs to listen to them later.

Three years ago, I discovered podcasts and they reminded me of my teenage memories. Every morning, I listen to episodes that can expand my understanding of my professional and social life, and sometimes I listen to lighter entertaining episodes just for fun. I enjoy the one-on-one vibe, the shows are organized, divided into categories, and every podcast host can talk about literally anything with total honesty and freedom. I loved that, and at some point I wanted to be both a listener and a host.

I kept sharing my favorite podcasts on Instagram, and every time I post them, I get messages from my audience encouraging me to start my own podcast.

Ons HM. Carthage Magazine.

Today, I can say my obsession with podcasts was my start point, and the support I received over the years made me realize my potential and i started thinking about this project seriously. Today, Onsomnia is 1 month old, we’re 20k and our community is still growing.

► What kind of content is covered in your podcasts?

A: Onsomnia sparks lighthearted, raw and fun conversations, from different perspectives about every topic millennials/gen Z can find interesting/relatable/thought-provoking.

I want to inspire my audience, give them a voice, and make them feel like someone is speaking their mind while listening to Onsomnia.

► Why do audio stories Captivate? Kind of influence you’d like to make?

A: The intimate aspect of it: Podcast listeners become familiar with their favorite host and their personality, and with every episode they feel like they are “listening to a friend” and welcoming them into their space.

Good podcasts create that one-on-one atmosphere, they initiate interesting conversations and the host becomes someone who the listener trusts and value their thoughts and opinions.

► Podcast culture in Tunisia. Are Podcasts gaining popularity here?

A: The podcast culture in Tunisia is new but too many people are getting familiar with the concept .

Although podcasts are not for everyone and the audience is very niche, but the popularity and demand are growing.

Few podcasts were launched recently in Tunisia, and overall, I noticed a positive feedback from the listeners.
