Chebika in Tunisia

Chebika is an oasis located near the Djebel el Negueb mountains. It was once a Roman outpost, but afterwards became a Berber mountain stronghold.

Today, this city has a population of only a few hundred people. This location was used to shoot several sequences for the blockbuster movies Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and The English Patient.

Chebika, Tozeur, Tunisia.

Chebika is located around 50 kilometers from Tozeur, which is a popular starting place for visitors traveling to Chebika using 4×4 vehicles.

Local guides can take you on a 40-minute hike to a waterfall after you arrive in Chebika. Take a moment to see the river that flows from the rocks and waters the palms. It’s incredible to see the crystal pure blue water within the mountains.

Climbing the peak rewards you with a beautiful view of the mountain, the oasis, and the Chott El Jerid salt flat.

It’s unsurprising that Chebika is a popular trekking destination. Advanced hikers may also opt to traverse many mountains while sleeping in tents.
