Tunisia faced power cut for two hours after national grid collapsed due to technical issue, say officials.

TUNIS – Electricity supplies were cut across Tunisia for two hours on Wednesday starting from 1:30AM local time.

The Interior Minister Kamal Feki was headed to the power plant in Rades city to investigate the reasons behind the blackout, his ministry said.

Mounir Ghabri, director of cooperation and communication at the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG), confirmed on Wednesday, around 5 a.m., that the entire electrical system has resumed its previous activity and is now fully restored.

The reasons for the breakdown are purely technical and there is no explosion linked to this matter. We will provide public opinion with the necessary clarifications as soon as the reasons are better determined, Mounir added.
