Tunisia’s senior taekwondo team delivered a standout showing at the 2026 Astana Open, taking six medals on the G1-ranked senior day of the tournament in the Kazakh capital. The headline names
Wafa Masghouni produced the day’s standout result, winning gold at β62 kg. As a reigning world champion, she is the most decorated name in the squad and the clear centrepiece of Tunisia’s campaign.
Firas Katoussi, who became Tunisia’s first Olympic taekwondo gold medalist in Paris 2024, took silver at β87 kg β a strong return against a deep G1 field.
Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi, a two-time Olympic medalist with silver in Tokyo and bronze in Paris, claimed bronze at β68 kg. According to the Tunisian Taekwondo Federation, a knee injury picked up during competition stopped his run to the final.
