Israel Strikes Hamas Leadership in Doha: IDF Confirms Targeting of Senior Figures
Israel has reportedly carried out an attack against Hamas leadership in Doha, Qatar, following an explosion heard in the Qatari capital. Hamas has long used Doha as a base for its operations outside of Gaza, though the individuals targeted have not been specified.
Shortly after the explosion, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement confirming a “precise strike” against senior Hamas leaders in a joint operation with the Shin Bet security agency. While the statement did not clarify the location of the operation, it suggested the attack took place outside Gaza.
The IDF described the individuals targeted as key figures in Hamas, stating that they had “led the terrorist organization’s operations” and were “directly responsible for the brutal October 7th massacre” as well as “orchestrating and managing the war against the State of Israel.”
A senior Hamas official confirmed that the group’s negotiators were among those targeted in Doha. Notably, on Monday, Khalil Al-Hayya, Hamas’ chief negotiator, had met with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in the capital.
This operation marks the first known Israeli attack in Qatar, further intensifying the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
